SOUTH PORTLAND (AP) – Fire officials say a kerosene heater was the cause of a Christmas Eve fire that damaged a 2-story duplex on Ocean Street.
A resident and a firefighter suffered minor injuries.
Lt. Robb Couture said the fire started in the attic, spread to an unoccupied second-floor apartment and caused an estimated $75,000 in damage.
The owner was renovating the apartment, and firefighters say someone may have accidentally spilled fuel near the kerosene heater.
