LEWISTON – John P. “Pat” McDonald Jr., 76, passed away in Lewiston early morning Friday, Dec. 26, surrounded by his adoring family.
He was born in Lewiston, on Nov. 18, 1932, to A. Dorothy (Spencer) and John P. McDonald Sr. He attended Lewiston High School lettering in track and football and later served his country in the U.S. Navy.
In January 1957, he married his “luscious tomato,” Claire M. Bergeron. Together they raised a family in the Lewiston-Auburn area.
Pat worked as an electric motor repairman for Stultz Electric for many years and retired from AC Electric in 1997.
Together with his wife Claire, he retired to his dream vacation home on Rangeley Lake, where he enjoyed his passion of fishing and hunting, and joined the Oquossoc volunteer fire department.
He was a humble, unassuming man, with a strong love and faith in God. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church for many years, as well as Our Lady of The Lakes Parish in Rangeley.
His friendly heart was engaged by many, and his joyful soul will be with us forever.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Claire McDonald; his sister, Lorraine Bergeron of Lewiston; his son, Patrick McDonald and his wife, Cindy, of Wales; his five daughters, Anne-Marie Markham and her husband, Jeffrey, of Tuscon, Ariz., Aline Elie and her husband, Gary, of Lewiston, Celeste Crabtree and her husband, Terrence, of South Hope, Stephanie Prue and her husband, James, of Peru and Julie Bertrand and her husband, Michael, of Minot; he and Claire are blessed with 21 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents; and his brother, William McDonald in 1998.
