MECHANIC FALLS – Tyrian Masonic Lodge 73 held its annual installation of officers on Dec. 28 at the Masonic Hall. Wayne Cotterly of Poland was installed master and will lead the lodge during the coming year.
The installation ceremony was conducted by Richard Bergeron of Poland, a member of Tyrian Lodge, serving as deputy for the 23rd Masonic District; Kenneth Carlin of Mechanic Falls, installing marshal; and Tony Bennett of Mechanic Falls, installing chaplain.
In his address to the members, Cotterly outlined his goals for the coming year. He said that one of the most important things they can do is to get the membership active and involved with the lodge.
“I have an ambitious and busy year scheduled ahead, and I hope that each member will take the opportunity to attend at least one meeting, degree, or event during the year,” he said.
Cotterly also said he would like to see the lodge end the year with a net gain in membership and to increase its visibility in the community. That would be accomplished through community service projects such as the Maine Masons Child Identification Program and a project to assist the town of Poland set up an emergency pet shelter at the new regional emergency shelter at Poland Regional High School.
