AUBURN – A Lisbon man who helped out at his parents’ home day care center was sentenced Tuesday to six months in jail on sex-related charges.

Christian Glidden, 28, of 9 Sparsam St., Lisbon, was indicted on 11 counts of possession of sexually explicit materials plus two counts of unlawful sexual touching dating back to 2005.

Police said they found 336 images of suspected child pornography on the hard drive of his computer in a room next to his bedroom at his parents’ Lisbon home day care. They also found 154 images of suspected child pornography on more than 100 computer discs, said Bernie McAllister, a detective at Lisbon Police Department.

Glidden waived his right to trial and pleaded guilty earlier this month to one count of possession, a Class C felony, and two counts of touching, both misdemeanors. Those counts stemmed from incidents involving two girls younger than 14, one in 2005, the other in 2006.

Authorities investigated Glidden’s actions for months following an anonymous tip before taking the case to an Androscoggin County grand jury.

The Glidden home was a state-licensed day care center at the time. It has since closed.

The two victims of unlawful sexual touching had been enrolled at the day care and the criminal activity occurred in that home, said Deborah Cashman, an assistant district attorney. Despite the relatively light sentence, Cashman said the compromise spared the victims from having to testify in court and allowed Glidden to take responsibility for his actions. It also reflected the difficulty prosecutors sometimes have in proving pornography-related crimes, she said.

Androscoggin County Superior Court Justice Thomas Delahanty II approved the prearranged sentence on the possession count of four years in prison with all but six months suspended, plus four years of probation. He also sentenced Glidden to 60 days in jail on the two counts of touching, to be served at the same time as the six months.

Conditions of Glidden’s probation include:

• registering as a sex offender for 10 years.

• no use or possession of sexually oriented materials.

• no use or possession of a computer.

• no use of the Internet.

• random search for those things.

• sex offender counseling and treatment.

• no contact with anyone younger than 18.

Glidden also agreed to forfeit his computer and other items seized by authorities during the investigation. The pornographic materials will be destroyed. Whatever can be reused will be given to Lisbon Police Department.

He was led from the courtroom in handcuffs by jail guards after his sentencing.
