SOUTH PARIS – Robert Henry Barry, 87, of Farmington, died Monday, Dec. 29, at the Maine Veterans’ Home.

He was born May 7, 1921, in Norway, the son of Howard and Josephine (Foster) Barry. He attended the Oxford Hills schools. He married Bernice Hanmer in 1955.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in Germany. Upon coming home, he went to work as a truck driver and worked for many different companies including long distance trucking, driving an oil truck and even driving a school bus.

He enjoyed playing cards with Conley and Kentucky Gould, fishing, hunting, camping, riding his motorcycle and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Abbott and her companion, Charles, of Farmington; two sons, Howard Barry and his wife, Karen, of Farmington and Robert Arsenault and his wife, Bonnie, of Milford; eight grandchildren, Chad, Amanda, Breama, Eric, Devin, Dakota, Jennifer and Daniel; and one great-granddaughter.

He was predeceased by his wife in 2003; and his son, Denis in 1988.
