LEWISTON – Wanda A. O’Connell, 91, formerly of 96 Charles St., Lewiston, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2008, at the d’Youville Pavilion, after a long illness.

She was born in Lewiston, on April 1, 1917, the daughter of Martin and Helen Wotilja Dudzik. She was educated in local schools and a graduate of Lewiston High School.

Prior to her retirement, she worked for many years as a doubler in the Pepperell Mill, and as an assembler at Arrowheart.

A member of St. Patrick’s Parish, she belonged to the Rosary Sodality, the former Polish-American Club, and enjoyed sewing and cooking. She was the widow of William H. O’Connell, who passed away on April 8, 1996.

Survivors include two sons, William M. and wife, Diana, of Harpswell and David and wife, Caroline, of Austin, Texas; five grandchildren, Erica, Bridget, Kevin, Kimberly Anne and William; and two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Colin.

She was predeceased by a sister, Catherine Connelly; and four brothers, Joseph, Frank, Albert and John.
