SOUTH PARIS – Miguel “Michael” C. Monzo of Oxford, died Friday, Jan. 2, at the Maine Veterans’ Home in South Paris from complications of COPD.

He was born in the Philippines on Nov. 19, 1926, the son of Raphael and Anita Castilla Monzo. He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Navy for 24 years. While in the Navy, one of his jobs was as a cook at Camp David for President Kennedy. After retiring from the Navy, he worked on the Canadian National Railroad for more than 20 years before retiring.

After his retirement, he enjoyed working outdoors, cooking and spending time with his wife and children.

He is survived by his loving family, wife Sandra; his daughters, Jamie, Tara and Erika; and his son, Ian; in addition to Kimberly Kirby of New Gloucester, and Michael Monzo Jr. of Bethel.

He was predeceased by Jeannette Goldston of Arizona.
