LEWISTON – Samuel “Wayne” Casey, 73, of Poland passed away Friday, Jan. 2, with his family by his side at Central Maine Medical Center following a short illness.

He was born in Pike, Ill., on June 13, 1935, the son of Elvis and Pearl (Murphy) Casey.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy.

He married Beverly Capalbo on July 14, 1995.

Wayne had been a truck driver for many years before retiring in 1998.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and untying people’s shoes. He also enjoyed family cookouts, watching football games, fishing and collecting quarters.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Beverly Casey of Poland; five stepsons, Karl Capalbo of Lewiston, Keith Capalbo and his wife, Robin, of Tennessee, Kenny Capalbo and his wife, Bonnie, of Massachusetts, Kevin Capalbo and his wife, Cyndi, of Lewiston, and Kris Capalbo and his fiancée Karen; eight grandchildren, Jaime, Alicia, Sherman, Kayla, Robert, John, Brandon and Samantha Casey, who was named after her Papa; a cousin, Butch, and a niece, Dawn Marie, both of Illinois.

Wayne will be missed by many, but we all know that he will be watching over us.
