AUBURN – Emily Grund’s basket in the final minute of play Tuesday night allowed Edward Little to stave off Leavitt, 43-39, in a KVAC girls’ basketball battle.

Kayla Cummings scored 19 points to lead the Red Eddies (7-2), who increased their 17-16 halftime lead to 36-32 headed into the final period.

Courtney Anderson drained four of Leavitt’s six 3-pointers and finished with 17 points. Adrianna Newton added 13 for the Hornets (5-4).

Livermore Falls 53, Telstar 39

BETHEL – Livermore Falls went 10-for-12 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter Tuesday and came away with a 53-39 victory over Telstar in MVC girls’ basketball action.

Kendra Lyman led the Andies (5-4) with 13 points, while Missi O’Connor added 11. Livermore gained control of the contest with a 11-4 run in the second period. Kayla Merrill paced the Rebels (1-7) a game-high 16 points. Brianna Douglass added nine.

Buckfield 31, Rangeley 17

BUCKFIELD – Abby Jones scored nine points, pulled down 16 rebounds, and blocked four shots as Buckfield restrained Rangeley with a 31-17 win Tuesday in East-West Conference girls’ basketball.

Sami Jones pulled down 11 rebounds to supplement her three points for Buckfield (7-0). Haley White scored a game-high 10 points for the Lakers (4-4).

Carrabec 64, Mt. Ararat 45

SALEM – Alisha Stoddard poured in 25 points to lead Carrabec to a 64-45 victory over Mt. Abram.

The Cobras (4-4) took charge early with a 16-210 advantage after one quarter. Mt. Abram only received scoring form four players. Kenni Norton led the Roadrunners (4-4) with 25 points and Mikayla Burbank added 14 to combine for 39 of Mt. Abram’s 45 points.

Gray-New Gloucester 48, Poland 19

POLAND – Senior forward Alicia Valente scored 10 points in a balanced attack as Gray-New Gloucester cruised to a 48-19 victory over Poland in WMC girls’ basketball action Tuesday.

The Patriots (5-4) jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter. Alexa Doyer posted a game-high 14 points for the Knights (0-9).

Medomak Valley 52, Oak Hill 40

WALDOBORO – Lindsay Ranquist poured in 24 points to guide Medomak Valley to a 52-40 victory over Oak Hill in KVAC girls’ basketball Tuesday. The Panthers (8-1) nailed three 3-pointers after the break to open up a comfortable lead in the third quarter.

Sophomore forward Maggie Sabine led the Raiders (5-4) with 13 points.

Oxford Hills 54, Lewiston 46

LEWISTON – Junior center Megan Joyce scored a team-high 13 points to lead Oxford Hills to a 54-46 victory over Lewiston.

Junior forward Allie Nolan scored 10 of her 12 points for in the second half for Oxford Hills to help suppress the Blue Devils (0-9). Senior center Kim Archibald crafted a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds for Lewiston. Junior guard Ashlee Labonte recorded 12 points.

NYA 48, Hebron 22

HEBRON – NYA used a 15-8 run in the second quarter to take control of the contest and went on to record a 48-22 victory over Hebron Tuesday in prep girls’ basketball.

Kate Merrill led NYA (3-4) with 11 points, while Blair Haggett tallied nine.

Hebron built a 7-4 advantage in the first quarter . Emma Leavitt paced Hebron (1-4) with 10 points. Emily Powers added six.
