Three races will be held by the Lewiston and Auburn Driving Club on the ice speedway, Friday, weather permitting. One will be for green trotters, another for green pacers and the third a 2.24 trot and pace. Twenty-five bushels of oats will be the purse for each race.

The races will be quarter-mile heats, best three in five. All entries should be made to the secretary, H. F. Libby at Libby and Pettingill’s stable, Auburn, before 12 noon today.

This much was decided at a meeting of the club held at the New DeWitt Hotel, Lewiston, Tuesday evening.

A young woman in Lewiston received the surprise of her life Tuesday night.

When her car stalled on a Lewiston street, another vehicle stopped to help.

A man got out of the car, offered to assist, tried to get the vehicle going but was unable to keep it running.

The man was enroute to the Lewiston inaugural at the Multi-Purpose Center, so the lady driving the man dropped him off at the center and drove the young woman home.

During the drive home, the driver asked the stranded young woman if she recognized her benefactor.

She hadn’t.

That’s when she learned it was U.S. Sen. Bill Cohen.
