PORTLAND (AP) – Maine’s largest hotel and convention facility is being put up for sale.

The Portland Press Herald says the Holiday Inn by the Bay in Portland and its companion property, the Holiday Inn-Portland West, are being marketed to potential buyers around the country.

With 239 rooms and 14 meeting spaces, the downtown hotel is the state’s largest. The other property near the Maine Turnpike has 200 rooms.

The hotels are owned by Indiana-based Harper Hotels Inc., which built and opened the Holiday Inn by the Bay in 1973. Harper Hotels declined to discuss the sale.

After the Holiday Inn by the Bay, the state’s largest hotels are the Grand Summit Resort Hotel at Sunday River, the Marriott at Sable Oaks in South Portland and the Wyndham Hotel in South Portland.
