LEWISTON – Normand R. Pomerleau, 55, of 62 East Ridge Road, Sabattus, died at Central Maine Medical Center, Tuesday, Jan. 6, after an illness of several weeks, from a rare disease of the central nervous system, having multiple strokes.
He was born in Lewiston, on Oct. 13, 1953, the son of Roland H. and Juliana Beaucage Pomerleau. He was raised in Holy Cross Parish. The past five years he lived in Sabattus.
He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1971, and CMVTI in 1976 as an automotive mechanic. He worked as a mechanic about 20 years, then as a truck driver. His latest job was for Glen Dube Excavation.
He had a stroke six months ago and had been recovering with rehabilitation, and he went to work part-time for Advance Auto Parts. In November, he was hospitalized with this latest illness.
He belonged to Hillside Family Riders Snowmobile Club, and the Webber Avenue Social Club. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and helping them whenever they had problems with their cars. He enjoyed NASCAR Racing and Oxford Plains Dragway, watching TV and riding his snowmobile and ATV.
He is survived by his mother, and brother, Bertrand; a daughter, Laura and grandson, Corbin; two stepsons, Everett Rice and wife, Kristen, their children, Keegan and Paige, Curtis Rice and girlfriend, Dot, and their daughter, Mackenzie; aunts, uncles, and cousins; former wife, Nina; and many friends.
He was predeceased by his father, Roland H. Pomerleau, on March 20, 1993.
