PORTLAND – People looking for a solid investment that they can enjoy for many years may consider the purchase of “a piece of Maine” – some land in the country.

The Small Woodland Owners Association of Maine will host a free informational session on “Buying Rural Land” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13. The presentation will be in Room 1, Payson-Smith Hall, University of Southern Maine, Falmouth Street.

Speakers will include Gary Bahlkow, a professional forester, principal and director of LandVest, who oversees the firm’s timberland sales business in the northeast U.S. and Canada, and Peter Hasler, an active forester and logger who has bought a large tract in North Waterboro.

All are welcome. For more information, contact Peter Lawrence at 772-6863 or [email protected].
