GORHAM, N.H. (AP) – Shaw’s Supermarket will be closing its Gorham, N.H., branch later next month, possibly putting 110 people out of work.

Town Manager William Jackson said he was informed on Thursday the supermarket will shut its doors on Feb. 25 after 10 years.

Shaw’s spokeswoman Judy Chong said it is a competitive marketplace and the branch was not meeting its goals. The company would try to transfer the employees to nearby locations. The nearest Shaw’s markets are in Lancaster, about 25 miles away, and Conway, about 35 miles away.

Chong said this is the only New Hampshire store Shaw’s plans to close.
