LEWISTON – John J. Freve Jr., 79, of Sherbrooke Ave., Lewiston, passed away Friday, Jan. 9, at St. Mary’s hospital after a short illness.
He was born in Rumford on Sep. 14, 1929, the son of the late John and Lena Arsenault Freve. He was married Sep. 6, 1948 to Adela Beauregard who predeceased him on July 11, 1999. In April of 2000 he married Jeannette A. Morin.
He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Prior to his retirement he was employed at Diamond Machine. After retirement he enjoyed his part-time job at Wal-Mart as a people greeter. He also enjoyed traveling by bus to Foxwoods gambling casino in Connecticut, with other retirees.
He is survived by his wife, Jeannette, of Lewiston; two sons, Nelson and his wife, Carolyn, their children, and John-Mark and his wife, Sheena, and Melissa and her husband, Jeff Wagner, all of Chicago, Ill., Richard and his wife, Rose Mary, of Lisbon, their children, Jessica of Boston, Mass., and Christopher and his wife, Chrissy, of Lewiston; a stepson, Wayne Galarneau and his daughter, Hannah of Denmark, Wiss.; his sister, Anna Kirouac, and her husband, Normand, of Lewiston; three great grandchildren, Melissa and Jeff’s sons, Simon, Owen and Aidan.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Adela; his brother, Philip Arsenault; and his sister, Theresa Boulay.
