Did the economy affect Christmas? If so, how? Between the high oil prices, the gas prices, the loss of jobs, air travel prices, food and the economy so bad right now, how did average people afford their regular Christmas traditions? After Wall Street’s recent crash, the economy has plummeted and people all over the nation are paying for it.
With products so expensive, people had a hard time across the United States. Many people had to cut back on their traditions. They were not be able to afford lavish gifts, such as laptops, cell phones, high-definition televisions, i-Pods, etc. Many people also did not have the money to afford all the food they normally buy to give their family the big Christmas dinner they deserve.
The economy did affect Christmas all over the U.S. Instead of buying the most expensive items, they cut back. You were able to show your loved ones you care about them without buying a lot of expensive gifts. Many homemade things were made and are just as good as bought things and they aren’t as expensive! Those of you who can knit, you could make scarves, purses, sweaters, blankets, etc. If you’re good at crafts, you bought some supplies and created Christmas gifts! See? You did not have to buy presents, you were able to create things for your loved ones and still show them you care about them!
