This is now the fifth year that the Vineyard Christian School has had basketball teams. Practices started up mid-November and our girls team started out very small, to the point where we thought that we might have to cut the team for the year, with only five players on board: Shonah Russell, Kayla Ross, Jenna Rouillard, Sarah Emano, and me. Thankfully, after a few practices had gone by, Abigail Marcotte joined the team, followed by Torri McClintock, and last but not least, Brianna Kenney.
The first game of the season for our team was on Monday, December 8. It was a home game, Vineyard Revolution vs. Windham Warriors and we gladly welcomed Brianna to the team. She’s very talented and caught on quickly to everything that we had been practicing and played an excellent game.
At half time, the score was 8-3 Vineyard, but in the second half, Windham started to catch up and by the last few minutes of the game, they were in the lead by two points. But with very little time left on the clock, the Vineyard scored two more shots and we won 17-15.
Ask any of the girls on our team and we will tell you how excited and thrilled we are about our first game. With our spirits up, we’re ready for the season. Please come to as many home games as you can and support the Revolution!
