SANFORD (AP) – The 76-member Sanford High School Band is getting ready for a trip to Washington to march in President-elect Barack Obama’s inaugural parade.
Band instructor Matt Doiron calls it the largest performance that any band from Sanford high has ever given.
The Sanford band was chosen from thousands of others to take part in the parade that will follow Obama’s swearing-in.
It’ll play only two songs, “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” and “The Maine State Song,” as it passes the viewing area and thousands of cameras before finishing the more than mile-long route to the White House.
