Dear Sun Spots: About a year ago Mary’s Candy Shop of Lewiston went out of business. At the time, your paper ran a couple of articles about the shop and the owner. At the same time, the owner was running a classified ad to sell equipment. I am interested in contacting him about anything that he may have left over that he did not sell.

If possible could you put us in touch with each other? Hopefully with success Lewiston will soon have a new candy business. Thank you for your help. – John, Poland.

Answer:
That is great news! Sun Spots contacted Roger Allen, owner of the former Mary’s Candy Shop. He noted that he has a trailer full of items that he did not sell, including cases, gas stoves, a dipping machine and fry-o-later. He also has many miscellaneous items such as kitchen utensils, shipping boxes and mailers. Allen will be sure to get in touch with you.

A Saturday, April 5, 2008, article by staff writer Kathryn Skelton noted that after 14 years of working 12-hour days, six and seven days a week hand-dipping sweets and filling display cases, Allen was ready for something less demanding!
