BATH – Maine Maritime Museum and the Boy Scouts of America’s Pine Tree Council are teaming up to establish a new Sea Scout “ship” in the Midcoast Region.
The Sea Scouts are part of the Boy Scout’s Venturing Program, and as such, are open to boys and girls, ages 14 to 21.
The Sea Scouts offer outdoor adventure, leadership training and fun. The’ emphasis, however, is on boats and the sea, and their programs include seamanship, passage making and other nautical activities. There are currently no active Sea Scout ships on the Midcoast.
The first organizational meeting for the Sea Scouts will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, at Maine Maritime Museum. Anyone interested is welcome. For more information, call Jim Nelson at Maine Maritime Museum, 443-1316, ext. 325, or e-mail [email protected].
