POLAND – Junior guard Elise Applegate and sophomore forward Allaina Murphy shared a game-high nine points each to lead St. Dom’s to a 42-19 triumph over Poland in WMC girls’ basketball action Thursday.

The Knights (0-12) couldn’t match the Saint’s (8-4) height, and found themselves trailing 22-9 at the half.

Senior guard Alexa Doyer had a team-high five points for Poland in the losing effort.

Greater Portland Chr. 33, Hebron 30

HEBRON – Taylor Sarver scored 10 points in a well-balanced attack as Greater Portland Christian edged Hebron 33-30 in girls’ basketball action Thursday.

Greater Portland (6-1) battled back from a one-point deficit in the fourth quarter to earn the win with a 3-point margin.

Emily Powers notched a team-high 11 points for the Lumberjacks (1-8) in the losing effort.

Buckfield 35, Gould 26

BUCKFIELD – Senior forward Lindsay Henderson and senior center Abby Jones made five field goals each for a combined 20 points to lift Buckfield to a 35-26 victory over Gould in EWC girls’ basketball action Thursday.

The Bucks jumped out to a 10-2 first quarter lead, but the Huskies shut them out in the second quarter with 13 points for a 15-10 haftime lead. Michaela Cummings notched a game-high 11 points for Gould.

Buckfield responded with a 12-5 and 13-6 outing in each of the second half quarters in the winning effort.

Girls’ hockey

Winthrop/Maranacook 2, Greely 1

FALMOUTH – Katherine Fortin converted a pass from Kenzie Hill with just 57 seconds remaining in regulation to lift Winthrop/Maranacook to a 2-1 upset over Greely in a girls’ hockey matchup Thursday.

Sandy Leimbach gave Winthrop/Maranacook (2-10) a 1-0 lead in the first period, while Ashley Marcelino made 25 saves to notch the win.

Greely (8-3-2) received its lone goal from Brittany Ames with just over four minutes left to play which tied the game.
