SOUTH PARIS – James Arsenault, 90, of High Street in South Paris, formerly of Fourth Street in Mexico, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, at the Maine Veterans’ Home, where he had lived for three years.
He was born in Chisholm, on June 2, 1918, a son of Joseph and Emma (Babineau) Arsenault.
He married the former Irene (Arsenault) on Oct. 12, 1940, and together they celebrated 56 years of marriage. She passed away on Feb. 17, 1996. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Germany. He was employed for 38 years with the former Boise Cascade Paper Co. on the super calendar.
He was a member of the VFW, The Eagles and the 25-year Club. He loved to play cards, to go bowling; gardening, swimming, and family get-togethers.
Surviving are two daughters, Sandra Wilson of Lewiston and Faye Dahlbergh of LeVant; a son, Steve Arsenault of Lewiston; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Irene; and three sisters, Eva Bernard, Sarah Arsenault and Marguerite Simoneau.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to the wonderful staff at the Maine Veterans’ Home, who cared for and loved their Dad.
