DIXFIELD – Jane Hebert drained consecutive 3-pointers with less than three minutes to help Dirigo erase a late 10-point deficit, and Tricia Turner scored on a spin move with 20 seconds remaining to lift the Cougars to a 42-39 victory over Hall-Dale.
Hebert’s back-to-back 3-pointers culminated a 10-point run that allowed the Cougars to tie the game at 40-40. After the Bulldogs (7-5) regained the lead on Ariel Howes’ basket,
Hannah Knight sank a free throw and Katrina Pulk stole the ball to set up Turner’s game-winner.
Hebert sealed the win with a pair of free throws.
Hebert finished with a game-high 14 points, while Knight had nine points and seven rebounds. Howes led Hall-Dale with 10 points.
EL 53, Brewer 32
AUBURN – Junior center Kayla Cummings and guard Kirsten Prue each scored 12 points in a balanced attack as Edward Little sailed to a 53-32 victory over Brewer in KVAC girls’ basketball action Friday.
The Red Eddies (11-2) jumped out to an early 12-0 lead and never looked back. Senior forward Abigail Downs pitched in with 10 points for Edward Little.
Senior guard Sheri Valley tossed a game-high 13 points for the Witches (7-5).
Jay 46, Boothbay 36
BOOTHBAY – Liz LeBlanc scored 15 points and Jay successfully fought off a Boothbay second-half rally for a 46-36 victory over the Seahawks.
The Tigers (10-2) opened a 25-10 lead by halftime, but Boothbay (1-11) narrowed the deficit to seven points midway through the final quarter before Jay regained the momentum.
Alexis Blodgett and Hillary Deane chipped in with seven points apiece for Jay. Mary Fuller led Boothbay with a game-high 18 points.
Lisbon 58, Telstar 28
LISBON – Amber Cloutier led a balanced attack with 11 points as Lisbon pulled away in the final quarter for a 58-28 triumph over Telstar.
The Greyhounds (8-4) held the Rebels scoreless in the first quarter to open a 9-0 lead, but Telstar hung tough over the next two quarters and trailed 33-22 entering the final frame.
Lisbon’s defense produced several easy baskets in the fourth quarter, leading to a 25-6 run over the final eight minutes. Kayla Merrill led Telstar with a game-high 17 points. Kelly Bourgoin added 10 points for Lisbon, while Renee Moore added nine points and Sam Purcell had eight points and nine rebounds.
Oxford Hills 54, Mt. Blue 32
PARIS – Lindsay Fox scored half of her team-high 12 points in the opening quarter, helping Oxford Hills jump out to an early lead en route to a 54-32 victory over Mt. Blue.
The Vikings’ defense limited the Cougars to two field goals in the first half to take a 22-11 lead at the half. Oxford Hills foiled any thought of the Mt. Blue comeback by sinking 11 of 15 free throws in the final quarter.
Lauren Brett and Melanie Cloutier added eight points each for the Vikings. Sabrina Keach scored 12 of her game -high 14 points in the second half for Mt. Blue.
Bangor 49, Lewiston 30
LEWISTON – Bangor (7-7) held Lewiston (0-14) to just 14 points in the first half and Hillary Throckmorton threw in the game-high 15 points as the Rams orchestrated a 49-30 over the winless Blue Devils in a girls’ basketball game Friday night.
The Blue Devils did slow the Rams down in the second half, but the damage had already been done.
For Lewiston, Chandel Bouthot scored the team-high 11 points, while Bangor’s Hilary Sivik added 10.
Skowhegan 52, Leavitt 40
TURNER – Senior center Kaley Brown recorded a team-high 14 points in a balanced attack as Skowhegan collected a 52-40 victory over Leavitt in KVAC girls’ basketball action Friday.
The Indians (10-3) were the benefactor of many fouls, making 21-of-30 from the charity stripe. Morgan Lambert and Whitney Jones contributed 13 points apiece for Skowhegan.
Freshman forward Adrianna Newton tossed a game-high 16 points and hauled down eight rebounds for the Hornets (6-7).
Courtney Anderson chipped in with 11 points and six steals for Leavitt.
Buckfield 44, Kents Hill 23
KENTS HILL – Buckfield jumped out to a 14-point lead in the first quarter and coasted to a 44-23 triumph over Kents Hill.
The Bucks led 16-2, 26-10 and 35-16 at the quarter breaks. Lindsay Henderson led the Bucks with 13 points and Sammy Jones added 11.
