DIXFIELD – Robert G. Gordon, 80, a lifelong resident of Dixfield, died Thursday, Jan. 15, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family in Dixfield.
He was born on March 17, 1928, in Dixfield, the son of George G. and Bertha (Merrill) Gordon. He graduated from Dixfield High School.
He married Marion Gammon and they made their home in Dixfield. She died on Feb. 8, 2006. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and past master of the Mystic Tie Masonic Lodge in Weld. He retired from Boise Cascade in Rumford. He enjoyed the company of his pets, playing baseball in his youth and traveling in early retirement.
He is survived by his children, Brenda Skidgell and her husband, Bill, of Dixfield, Lorraine McLennan and her companion, Charlie Smith, of Livermore Falls, Nicola Sarrazin of Iowa City, Iowa, and Rosalie Davis and her husband, Ken, of Newry; siblings, Sheldon Gordon of Florida, Lincoln Gordon of Auburn, Phyllis Tibbetts and her husband, Freemont, of Dixfield and Revello Gordon of Dixfield; 12 grandhildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Diane and Nadine.
