AUGUSTA (AP) – Maine made it through 2008 without any deaths from car-moose collisions.

According to Maine State Police, last year was the first year since 1997 that the state went without any fatal collisions involving moose. In 2007, five people were killed when their vehicles struck moose.

There was one death during the year resulting from a vehicle collision with a deer.
