BERLIN, N.H. (AP) – Investigators are looking for the cause of a fire that destroyed several businesses and Rep. Paul Hodes’ Berlin, N.H., office early Saturday.

Firefighters from several communities battled the flames in temperatures that dipped to 30 below zero. At least two firefighters were hurt. It was so cold, firefighters worked in shifts so they could get some relief from the flames and ice.

The flames broke out around 5 a.m., destroying several businesses and offices, including Dave’s Music Mania; Louie’s Barber Shop; Profile Electronics; Hodes’ office; and Home Sweet Home, an apartment management company.

One firefighter was hurt when struck by a hose and another suffered a shoulder injury.

Hodes said it was fortunate no one was seriously hurt. He said he will work to reopen the office as soon as possible.
