Lewiston – John R. Baker, 65, formerly of Richmond Eldercare, died Friday, Jan. 16, at CMMC after a long battle with diabetes.
Born in Portland, on July 10, 1943, the son of the late Rodrick and Margatetta (Andrews) Baker.
He attended local schools and went on to do what he loved best, work on automobiles.
John worked at many area auto repair shops until disability forced him to retire.
When he was not involved with cars he would relax and enjoy the love of his family.
He also had a great fondness for the beautiful nature that Maine has to offer.
He is survived by his sister, Nancy Boucher of Lisbon Falls; a niece, Ina Onsager of Great Falls, Mont.; three cousins, William Andrews of Lisbon Falls, Karlene Strout of Waterville and Meg Ellis of Fairfield; as well as many great-nieces and nephews. He also leaves two lifelong friends, Dick LaPlante of Florida and Don Tardiff of Auburn.
A special thanks to the doctors and nurses at CMMC ICU for the great care provided to John and a heartfelt thanks to the Rev. Vicky Carpenter for the great calming comfort given to him in preparation for his journey.
