BRUNSWICK – The public is invited to join legislators, municipal officials, business and civic leaders and Realtors at a 7 p.m. meeting Thursday at Brunswick High School’s Crooker Theater.
Presentations will be made by Capt. Will Fitzgerald, commanding officer of Naval Air Station in Brunswick, Steve Levesque, executive director of the Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority, Rick Baribeau, representing the Merrymeeting Board of Realtors, and Mark Lavin, senior vice president of Balfour Beatty housing.
Following presentations, the floor will open to the public for comments and questions.
“It is important that the Navy be as open and transparent as possible with our neighbors as we close Naval Air Station Brunswick,” Fitzgerald said. “This first regional public meeting will expand the ongoing dialogue we have with the midcoast community and allow residents and elected officials direct access to military and civilian leadership.”
The public meeting is sponsored by the Military-Community Council, a membership organization founded in 1961 to maintain communication between community and military leaders, to host regional disaster drills for public safety and hospital certification, and to present the annual Joshua Chamberlain Award.
