LIVERMORE – The Board of Appeals approved a variance for a mobile home on River Road on Thursday.
The approval came with the condition that once the need was over, then the trailer has to be removed, said Kurt Schaub, administrative assistant to the select board.
Leroy Hilliard had initially appealed a code enforcement violation ruling on set back requirements. But after discussion with town officials, Hilliard opted to request a variance to keep the mobile home where it is, which is within the 25-foot road and side setbacks outlined in the building ordinance.
The mobile unit was placed 10 feet too close to the right of way and 5 feet too close to an abutting property, Schaub said previously. The only other spot on the lot where it could be put is where the septic system was installed for an existing structure.
There are provisions that a trailer may be put on property for the elderly or a caregiver, Schaub previously said, and that met the need for a variance.
