INDUSTRY – Voters here will be asked Tuesday if they want to spend up to $150,000 to buy a new plow truck and equipment to replace a truck damaged during the first major snow storm in December.
The special town meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Jan. 20 at the town hall, Town Clerk Angel Davis said Monday.
The town has two plow trucks. One was heavily damaged after it slid off the road and the plow wing came back and crushed the cab, Selectman Rob Geisser said Monday.
The town is renting a truck to replace that one, he said. If voters approve, a new truck would be bought and the rental truck would be returned.
The new truck would be paid for through a variety of means that include insurance reimbursement for the damaged truck, money from a reserve account and raising $25,000 through taxes, he said.
The truck would be paid for over five years, Davis said.
“We’ve got quotes from different places” for the truck and equipment including a plow and sander, Geisser said.
Hopefully people will show up to the town meeting, he said.
“The more participation we have, the better,” Geisser said.
