LEWISTON – Dennis Paul Blackwell Sr., 64, of Jordan Road, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, Jan. 21, the youngest of 10 children.
He was born on Sept. 27, 1944 to George and Phyllis (Smith) Blackwell at home in Cundy’s Harbor. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served his country with great pride during the Vietnam War.
After his service to his country, he returned home and met, then married, Sandra Ann Nugent of Lewiston on Aug. 29, 1970 at St. Patrick’s Chapel.
He worked mostly in construction and later was self-employed as Blackwell & Son, until he happily retired at the age of 55.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy of Lewiston; his son, Dennis Jr. and his wife, Jessica, of Jay, who gave birth to his only grandchild, Gregory, whom he absolutely adored; his sisters, Barbara McLean of Brunswick, Marion Rollins of Farmington Falls, Sylvia Leighton of Westbrook and Sharon Hollingshead and her husband, Richard, of Richmond; his brothers, Robert and his wife, Phyllis, of North Carolina, Maurice and his wife, Virginia, of Lisbon, David of Brunswick and Leon and his wife, Pat, of New Jersey; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; and one brother, George Jr.
