RUMFORD – Erma Francis Cushman McGuire, 93, formerly of Peru, died early Monday, Jan. 26, at the Rumford Community Home.

She was born on Aug. 18, 1915, in Bryant Pond, the third of eight children to George Washington and Lena Mae (Francis) Cushman. She was raised on the farm on Cushman Hill Road, also known as Pinhook.

She married Lubert McGuire in 1933. They lived in Peru on the Dickvale Road, raising three daughters. She enjoyed snowmobiling, camping, fishing, cooking, lawn “sailing” and playing cards. Most of all, she enjoyed her cribbage games with the folks at the Rumford Community Home.

She is survived by her daughters, Lois Hubert of Cochran, Ga., and JoAnne Palmer of Peru; a sister, Avis Coolidge of Oxford; sister-in-law, June Cushman of Augusta; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lubert McGuire; a daughter, Norma Roth; all of her brothers and sisters, except one.
