FARMINGTON – This weekend’s opening for the movie “Hotel For Dogs” at Narrow Gauge Cinema is being called a time to remember dogs and cats at Franklin County Animal Shelter.

Debbie Cook from the shelter and John Moore, owner of Narrow Gauge, have collaborated on a deal for matinees scheduled for 1 and 3:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. With a donation of an item for the shelter, admission will be $2.50, said Moore. The item can be anything from dog food to cat litter.

“Its’ a good way to add supplies … and a good way to get families out to the movie so it’s a win/win situation,” said Cook, who asked Moore to tie the movie opening to the shelter.

The film is a comedy about two children who care for stray dogs. A large cardboard dog house for donations was created by Cook in the lobby, and someone from the shelter will be there to greet moviegoers, said Patty Lovell, shelter manager.
