AUGUSTA (AP) – The state energy office says the average cash price for heating oil in Maine dropped by a penny a gallon in its latest weekly survey and now stands at $2.37.

Actual prices ranged from a low $1.94 in southwestern Maine to a high of $2.65 in the eastern region.

The average price of kerosene was $2.82 and propane was $2.79.

Officials say the slight increase in prices in recent weeks reflects uncertainty in wholesale markets, which seem to be balancing the possibility of an OPEC supply cut against the increasing bad news on the economy.
