WASHINGTON (AP) – Chief Justice John Roberts is glad an oath of office wasn’t needed to install the new head of the Smithsonian Institution.

Instead, Roberts just handed over a key Monday to formally install new secretary Wayne Clough (kluwf).

Roberts stumbled over an oath of office during President Barack Obama’s inauguration last week. He says he doesn’t know who is responsible for the tradition of handing over a key, but he likes it. His remark drews laughs from the audience.

The new Smithsonian secretary is calling on the world’s largest museum complex to focus on three main areas: education, climate change and biodiversity, and American identity and diversity.

The former Georgia Tech president has been on the job six months and is creating a new strategic plan.
