LEWISTON – The Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce hosts a monthly Brown Bag Roundtable Discussion for its members at the chamber office, 415 Lisbon St. Members bring their questions (and their lunch) and learn from other members by sharing information, knowledge, and experiences through informal discussions on a variety of business-related topics. There is no charge for the event, which will be held Feb. 4, from noon-1:15 p.m.

The topic for the meeting is “Using the Local GIS Systems.” Those attending can learn about Auburn’s (and soon-to-be Lewiston’s) new Web-based Geographic Information System. This is a powerful mapping and data tool that can benefit a business and is free. Jessica Hanscom, Auburn GIS coordinator, and Jim Ward, Lewiston GIS coordinator, are the session presenters. They will focus on simple searching techniques, downloading data, performing mail merges for labels, and printing options. Attendees will see what the site may look like in the future and can use the opportunity to give feedback to city staff members about possible site enhancements.

Registration is not required; however, a courtesy call to the chamber at 783-2249, or an e-mail to sschell@androscoggincounty.com to reserve a space would be appreciated.
