Sunday speaker

PARIS – The Sunday, Feb. 1, service of the First Universalist Church on Pine Street will be conducted by guest speaker Ben Tucker. Tucker’s 10 a.m. sermon is titled “The Most Important Story.”

Music is under the direction of Forest Perkins and the Sunday school program is under the direction of Renee Wales. Coffee, brunch and fellowship will follow the service and all are welcome. Child care is available.

Scout supper

PARIS – Twenty-eight local Girl Scouts will tour Washington, D.C., during April vacation. The trip has been planned for two years.

On Friday, Feb. 13, the girls will sponsor a potluck supper and silent auction at the Second Congregational Church in South Paris as one of the final fundraisers. Cost is adults, $6; children, $4; under 5, free.

Those wishing can purchase Girl Scout cookies by calling 743-7014.

Valentine mystery

UPTON – The Upton Ladies Aid will hold a Valentine Murder Mystery Dinner on Saturday, Feb. 14, at the Upton Ladies Aid Building. It is by reservations only. Call Penny at 533-2010 for more information or to make reservations. The cost is $40 a couple or $25 a person. The deadline for reservations is Saturday, Feb. 7.

Seeking DVDs

WATERFORD – The Waterford Library is adding a DVD collection to its offerings to children and adults. Residents are encouraged to help stretch the library budget by donating used DVDs to share with the community.

DVDs may be left in the library lobby at any time or in the library during open hours, 2 to 6 p.m. Mondays, 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to noon Fridays or 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. Donations of audio books are also welcome.
