I was watching the news recently and have to wonder what the federal government is really thinking (or lack of thinking). I really don’t know what to say.
Let’s see, Bank of America got $20 billion to recoup some of the losses of Merrill Lynch, a company that it just bought out, only to watch the CEO of Merrill Lynch give out $8 billion worth of bonuses to its top executives before he was kicked out of his office.
Wow.
In the next segment of the news, there was a piece on how hospitals are demanding patients pay up front before treatment. They justify that by saying they have lost $35 billion due to non-payment.
Now I wonder, where do you think the $20 billion would have been better spent?
Those are supposed to be smart people we elected to office.
