BETHEL – The eighth annual New England Women’s XC Ski Day will take place on Sunday, Feb. 1, at the Bethel Inn Nordic Ski Center.

The day-long event is “for women, by women.” Participants will find ski clinics for every level of skier led by some of the best women ski coaches in the country.

There will also be waxing demonstrations, ski industry representatives with equipment and clothing, lunch at the Bethel Inn with a drawing, and some words from Olympic athlete Joan Benoit-Samuelson, who has participated in the event for several years.

The day will wrap up with a one km relay event with prizes for the top two teams in five categories: mother/daughter, sister/sister, relative/relative, friend/friend, oldies/oldies. Every year the event raises money to benefit a local women’s organization. This year it will benefit the Rape Education and Crisis Hotline serving rural Oxford County and the towns of Harrison and Bridgton.
