AUGUSTA (AP) – John A. Okie, who was found guilty in December of murdering his former girlfriend and father, is to be sentenced Friday in Kennebec County Superior Court.
Okie, 22, bludgeoned 19-year-old Alexandra “Aleigh” Mills to death in her Wayne home on Nov. 10, 2007. Six days later, he fatally stabbed his father, 59-year-old John S. Okie, during an argument in the family home in Newcastle.
Details of the killings were revealed during an eight-day jury trial, which ended Dec. 19 when Okie was found guilty of two counts of murder.
Friday’s sentencing hearing is a day later than originally set. He’s been held without bail in Kennebec County jail since his arrest Nov. 17, 2007.
