LIVERMORE – No one was hurt Thursday when a tractor-trailer jackknifed on Crash Road as the driver tried to stop for a school bus, Androscoggin County Deputy Craig MacMillan said.

The road conditions were slick, he said.

Michael Morgan, 54, was going about 12 miles an hour on the road, MacMillan said, and went around a corner to find a stopped school bus.

He couldn’t stop, though he tried, MacMillan said, and ended up jackknifing the empty pulp truck rather than hitting the bus.

The tractor’s left gas tank was dented but there was no rupture or leak, he said.

The rig blocked the road.

Jay police and Livermore firefighters closed the road at both ends and rerouted traffic for more than an hour, he said. The incident occurred at 11:07 a.m.

The tractor-trailer was registered to A & S Inc. of Oakland.
