A resident of the Sabattus Road is making quite a study of the number of teams which pass to and from the city in the course of a day. He says that between 7 o’clock in the morning and 6 o’clock at night there is an average of 45 horses an hour passing his house. Some large loads of wood are being brought into the city each day and this man believes that there is more traveling on that road this winter than ever before.

Another Lewiston shoe factory has agreed to the wage increase contained in a new contract between the Lewiston-Auburn Shoeworkers Protective Association and the Auburn Shoe Manufacturers Association, according to LASPA Secretary Mark H. Burke.

The Lewiston shop is Belle-Moc Inc., not a member of the association.

So far LASPA has obtained agreements with two of the four shops outside the association with which it has contracts. The first to agree to the higher wage scale was Lown Shoe Inc., of Auburn.

Burke said he has appointments for early next week with the other two shops outside the association. These are Lown Heel Corp. and Auburn Wood Heel Co.
