AUBURN – Laurette Carrier, 82, formerly of 11 Lisbon St., Lewiston, died peacefully at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn on Saturday, Jan. 31.

She was born in Van Buren on Dec. 15, 1926, a daughter of the late Joseph and Beatrice (Levesque) Levasseur. She was educated in Van Buren schools.

She was a member of the former St. Mary’s Parish in Lewiston and worked at St. Mary’s Hospital for many years as a housekeeper.

Laurette was very talented at crocheting and cooking and she loved jigsaw puzzles. She smiled best when she was surrounded by family and overflowed with happiness and joy whenever a grandchild was around. She will be remembered for her gentle soul and kind heart.

Laurette is survived by her daughter, Nancy Carrier, of Lewiston; one brother and several sisters; grandchildren, Timothy Carrier and wife, Sarah, of Croton on the Hudson, N.Y., and Aimee Campbell and husband, John Jr., of Bath. She also leaves a great-granddaughter, Alannah, and a special “adopted grandson,” Shane Montminy and his partner, Ryan Cole.

Laurette was predeceased by her husband, Valdor E. Carrier in 1995; and a brother, Alan Carrier of Lewiston.

A special heartfelt thanks goes out to Dr. Roger Austin and the entire staff at the Hospice House for the caring love and support provided to Laurette and her family over the past few months.

Laurette enters into new life carrying with her the love of family and friends, and we keep her close to our hearts with all of the wonderful memories she left us.
