RUMFORD – Louise Maranda, 74, of Rumford, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 31, at her home.

She was born in Mexico, on Dec. 13, 1934, the daughter of Joseph and Rosalind (Duguay) Thibodeau. She attended Mexico schools and graduated in 1953.

She was a dedicated and loyal wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was active in Santa’s Helpers for many years, worked at Bass Shoe as an inspector and was very active as a volunteer for the SeniorsPlus lunch program in Rumford for many years.

Always ready for a road trip and going out to eat through her health struggles, she was like an Energizer bunny.

She loved her flower gardens and feeding the birds in her backyard. She enjoyed making sure people had good food and spending time with her loved ones.

Survivors include her daughter, Trina Fortin of Rumford; her son, John Maranda and his wife, Laurie, of New Hampshire; granddaughter, Jami Maranda and her companion, Roger Laramee, of Mexico; grandchildren, Trisha and Chelsea Fortin of Rumford and John Jr. and Ben Maranda of New Hampshire; her most precious great-grandson, Tucker Laramee of Mexico; and her brother, Joseph (Hawkeye) of Mexico. Another extremely important survivor is Max the cat, who had more toys than her daughter and son could have ever dreamed of having. He was always there for her, and added happiness to her life that no human could have. She also had many nieces, nephews and loving friends, whom she loved very much.

She was predeceased by her husband, Gerard Maranda, who she married in Rumford on Sept. 11, 1954; her parents; sister and best friend, Vivian; four brothers, William, Romeo, Norman (Jack), Robert; and a daughter, Tricia Marie.
