LEWISTON – The Lewiston CareerCenter, 5 Mollison Way, Lewiston, announces the Unemployed Professionals Group schedule and topics for the February workshops.

The Unemployed Professionals group meets from 1 to 4 p.m. every Monday at the CareerCenter. Topics include:

Feb. 9 – “Building On Your Strengths,” with Michael Davis, career counseling and executive coach with Pathfinder of Harpswell.

Feb. 16 – No meeting, Presidents’ Day

Feb. 23 – “How to Interview an Interviewer,” with Art Boulay, MBA, of Strategic Talent Management in Brunswick.

Registration is not required and there is no cost to attend.

A higher education adviser is available Feb. 6 and Feb. 27 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to talk about options to attend college. Registration is not required, but call to verify Tyra is available.

An adult education adviser is available Wednesdays, Feb. 4, 11, 18 and 25, from 10:15 to 11 a.m. A representative is available to talk about options to improve job skills and what adult education programs or classes would best meet needs. Registration is not required.

“Résumé Basics and Interview Skills,” Feb. 12, and again Feb. 26, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Registration required. Call 753-9005 or TTY: 877-796-9833. Those attending can explore the basics of résumés and applications and learn how to prepare for a successful interview.

“Job Search Skills,” Feb. 17, 10 a.m. to noon. Registration required. Call 753-9005 or TTY: 877-796-9833. Learn how to conduct an effective job search and explore how employers hire.

“Career Decision Making,” Feb. 23, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with follow-up on Feb. 27, 9 a.m. to noon. Registration required. Call 753-9005 or TTY: 877-796-9833. The workshop explores the factors that affect career decisions; helps people identify interests, aptitudes and experience; discusses the tools available to research education and labor market information; and guides people in developing a career plan.

Assessments are also available. CASAS, to measure reading comprehension and math skills. Ability Profiler, to learn more about a person’s strengths and how they relate to the world of work. Work Importance Profiler, to find what is important in a job and work values. Interest Profiler, to identify work-related interests. Registration is required for all assessments.
