FARMINGTON – Franklin County Emergency Management has received a $67,743 Homeland Security grant.
County Emergency Management Director Tim Hardy told commissioners the money is intended to improve preparedness and response capabilities for homeland security events.
The money will be spent on planning, for computers and software, a field radio, training, Web site upgrade and maintenance and a generator.
A request for a generator at Jay Schools was not included, Hardy said.
The money is available now but requires signed acceptance from commissioners.
Maine Emergency Management Agency, which awarded the grant, received similar requests totaling more than $10 million. The agency had less than $2.3 million to award for the requests.
