FARMINGTON – A Lewiston man pleaded guilty Monday to attempting to break into C.N. Brown in Jay last August.
David R. Levesque, 18, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of criminal mischief and attempted burglary. A felony burglary charge was dismissed in a plea agreement.
Judge Michaela Murphy sentenced Levesque to serve seven days in the Franklin County jail in Farmington on the criminal mischief charge. She also issued an order for restitution of up to $500 to be paid through the district attorney’s office.
Levesque was also fined $500 on the attempted burglary charge.
He began serving his sentence Monday.
Levesque and co-defendant Jeremy Ciarfella, 24, of Jay, were caught by police hiding behind a Dumpster at a service station on Main Street after a Jay resident reported hearing a window being smashed.
A rock had been thrown through the front window at the station, police said.
The men admitted at the time to police that “they intended to steal money,” police Chief Larry White Sr. said previously.
