FARMINGTON – The Mt. Blue High School Future Business Leaders of America Chapter has held a community service campaign for the past two months to collect winter coats and jackets to be distributed to needy children and adults in Farmington and surrounding towns.
Each year the student organization selects a community service project that will benefit SAD 9 residents. This year members voted on a project that they called “keeping our children and adults warm” during the winter season.
A call was put out to the students and staff to donate coats and jackets that they no longer wear.
A deposit box was placed in the classroom of Priscilla Conner, FBLA adviser, and soon clothing was piling up. A total of 73 winter coats and jackets were collected.
On Jan. 23, Liz LeClair and Marlie Mochamer, FBLA historian, delivered the coats to the Franklin County Children’s Task Force. Those needing clothing may stop by the task force office at 113 Church St. or call 778-6960.
FBLA members annually select a project that will benefit others. In the past it has been St. Jude’s Hospital, Christmas cards for patients at Water Reed Army Hospital, donations for Camp Sunshine and food baskets.
