Dear Sun Spots: In answer to “Loves to Cook, No Town” Jan. 13. My mother used to make a white cake and we wrapped money – dimes nickels and pennies – in waxed paper. We twisted both ends of the waxed paper and tossed them into the batter.

Something different to do with my grandchildren. Thank you for the memory!

On another note, I am disappointed that Sun Spots has been almost pushed off the page. Recipes are OK, but there must be another place to put them – or give Sun Spots a page of its own! – A Faithful Reader, Hebron.

Dear Sun Spots: I always enjoy your column, and I finally have something that I need your help with. I am looking for the mailing address for SPEED TV. It’s out of Charlotte, N.C. I would like to send a card to one of their on-air personalities, but was unable to find their mailing address on their Web site. I really would appreciate your help, thank you. – Rosey Maxim Winthrop.

• On Jan. 17, Sun Spots reported that Nancy Kelleher of AARP said the organization now offers insurance for people ages 50 to 64 in Maine, but she did not have specific details. Several readers contacted AARP for more information to no avail. Sun Spots spoke with Nancy Kelleher again, who noted that the information was incorrect; she received the wrong information that was passed on to the readers. AARP does not offer this insurance in Maine at this time.
