LEWISTON – Joan McDermott Roy, 77, of 15 Champlain Ave., Lewiston, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Boston, Mass., on Nov. 3, 1931, the daughter of Walter and Winifred Kean McDermott. She attended Mount St. Joseph’s Academy in Boston for 12 years and graduated from Regis College in Weston, Mass., with a degree in English.

In 1969, she married Lionel Roy of Lewiston. He passed away in 1996. She worked as a paralegal in the Boston area for several years, and after settling in Maine with her husband, she was employed as a paralegal by the state of Maine. A member of St. Joseph’s Parish, she also belonged to the Queen’s Guild.

Survivors include a sister, Carol M. Guebert and husband, Wesley, of Atlanta, Ga.
